Dirt and steel are all that’s left here Sifting through this broken land I been searching for the reason Why these towns are empty now Maybe greed finally took this over And the good Lord started shuttin it down Well I don’t why He saved me But I’m stuck here stumblin around Oooooooh Well the winds are blowing heavy And the dust is caking thick I been wandering in this darkness For what feels like eternity If I could only understand this If I could ask somebody why Now the deck has been reshuffled And I need some purpose now Oooh father I’m the only man father I’m the only man Ooh father I’m the only man father I’m the only man I heard whispers from the ghosts Just a couple nights ago And I tossed wood in the bonfire Trying wildly to ignore I know I can’t run forever Someday soon I’ll have to wake From this boat out on the ocean And these dreams of yesterday And I’ll fight to find the reason Why I’m the last one here alive But for now I’ll light the bonfire Hoping to find some rest tonight Oooh father I’m the only man Father I’m the only man Oooh father I’m the only man Father I’m the only man

Well somedays my old man taught me He taught me very well He said son don’t make these same mistakes Of these people you read about From these filthy politicians to the psycho murderin man Here’s a song I song I sing to myself when I’ve read about too much sin Oh Lord this world is fine I got my family and I’ve had my times Oh Lord this world is mine I have it all in them Durango pines So I grew up always smiling With an optimistic pride But somedays I can’t believe it When I turn on channel 5 There’s a bad streak out there waiting Aimed to take a good man down I’ll be damned if I don’t struggle Til in buried in this ground Yes I’ll be damned if I don’t fight it Til I’m buried in this ground Oh Lord this world is fine I got my family and I’ve seen some times Oh Lord this world is mine I have it all in them Durango pines To my future son or daughter I just pray that you will see It don’t matter how this world is If we have our family No it don’t matter how this world gets If we’ve got this family It don’t matter how this world gets Cause we have our family Oh Lord this world is fine I got my family and I’ve had some times Oh Lord this world is mine I have it all in them Durango pines

We’re far from the wreckage And every war has it’s share of lost saints We’ve heard all the reasons And they’ll tell us hey man it keeps us safe Broken promise yeah just one more time They will leave but they’ll have to wait I’m not your tree hugging hippy man But this is bullshit let’s end this thing Those are our brothers and our sisters Our fathers and mothers sittin’ stuck over there Fighting someone else’s battle Bravely through the rattle As the gunfire nears Broken promise yeah just one more time They will leave but they’ll have to wait I’m not your government conspiracy man But this is bullshit let’s end this thing 40,000 years we been killing each other for greed and material wealth Blame Cheney, and Bush, and Rumsfeld but it’s all just beside the point We can come together, we can help this country now Make our battle be for goodness, for real change, for hope Cause real change isn’t gonna come from Washington Let’s go ahead and not wait for that one Broken promise yeah just one more time They will leave but they’ll have to wait I’m not some Michael Moore fan club guy But this is bullshit let’s end this thing Yeah I’m not some tree hugging hippy man But this is bullshit let’s end this thing I’m not your government conspiracy man But this is bullshit let’s end this thing

Out to Sea 03:27
Let’s drink up this evening This summer’s time for leaving Dance like a crazy soul In the warm beach town fog Out there the ocean is taking in the pouring rain The storms again will rattle on this old wood frame That barely keeps this house upright And every night we live by that fire’s side When this world gets to tumblin with speed We got our minds made up we’re going out to sea Yes when this house starts crumblin on me We got our minds made up we’re heading out to sea Far from this land locked listlessness Far from this hometown hustle Far from those past projections OOOoooh OOOOoooh Let’s throw down this evening This fall we might be leaving Dance like some crazy souls In the warm beach town fog Out there the ocean is taking on the pouring rain The storms again will rattle on this old wood frame That barely keeps this house upright And every night we huddle by that fire’s side Grab your bags I think it’s time for us to leave Let’s not plan we’ll just say wait and see The boat’s a bit old but the sail’s alright And the winds are pulling but the storm has died The sunset marks our way and the moon lights the night And when we’re out of reach I think we’ll truly be alright When this world gets to tumblin with speed We got our minds made up we’re going out to sea Yes when this house starts crumblin on me We got our minds made up we’re heading out to sea

October 03:22
This Indian Summer’s Here again We’re soon to marry And I’ll carry you cross the threshold Today we’ll start A new life here And all our dreaming Is now seeming to be real We sat In the soft green grass October Never came so fast October Summer’s end and we’re wrapped in We sung To the cloudlined sun October Never came so fast This Indian Summer’s Our old friend Bringing comfort And a peace that we’ll remember Tonight we’ve gone and disappeared Maybe lost forever Yea we left together Me and my girl We sat in the soft green grass October Summer’s end and we’re wrapped in We sung to the cloudlined sun October Never came so fast October Never came so fast

Easy 02:42
To all old friends I knew so well We will never grow old we said Just the other day it felt Grade school girls and carton milk For all those nights we terrorized Shit got weird when we got high Often lost but acting cool High school pranks and the old man’s booze For every story seldom told Let’s not forget as we get old All the stupid things we done Still alive and we had fun This ain’t an end no not at all Everyone’s busy and we rarely call But when we leave it’s like we never left Easy as the years that past Easy as the years that pass

Mama's Love 03:12
Well I remember it well Waking up was hell But you were my best alarm Oh Danny Boy The shower pipes are calling Was the song And I’d sleep in the very best I could But I’d make that old school bell I think I hated it then But now I guess I am Happy I can spell You showed me the more I give The more I’ll get In this life I’ve been thinking That’s the perfect tip And each time I leave I carry you with me Cause there ain’t nothing else stronger That can make me dream Like my mama’s love We danced in the kitchen on some summer nights With old Van Morrison And we sang it loud the only part we knew G-L-O-R-I-A She said “brush your teeth” and “it’s time for bed” And I knew it’d never stop But I see it now why she would worry out loud As she kept our family strong In my mother’s arms I feel a truth and comfort so unique Ya ma you’re the one I come to when I’m losing sleep You show me the more I give the more I’ll get In this life I been thinking that’s the perfect tip And each time I leave I’ll carry you with me Cause there ain’t nothing else stronger That has made me dream Like my mama’s love Like my mama’s love

Picture Just an endless sky And no world in sight Only blue and white Listen As the stillness looms We’ll be floating soon And leave it all behind Breathe in All the good that we have found Let this quiet drown Every stress you’ve known We are Free and bound by nothing now Somewhere in the clouds Listen close my love Feel That it’s all ok And it’s been that was way For a thousand years

We found a warm dream And left the boundaries of time We hit the road out to somewhere And the moon was right there by our side He was a sad moon He wanted then to be whole But it’s a cycle we told him You will get there as a sight to behold Highway moon We’ve seen your someday soon And what you want you will find Yea what you want you will find It’s like a corn maze You’re left to hope and to trust You tread the same space in circles But you’re not one to ever give up Searching for new lives Cause 1 is never enough You gotta know that it’s worth it Even when it all seems so tough Highway moon We’ve seen your someday soon And what you want you will find Yea what you want you will find

Orleans 03:34
Orleans is falling To the sea from which it came Bourbon is flowing With clowns in this old parade Oh hear the sound A poor busker’s made her own Crawfish is boiling In the driveways down Carollton Oh take me back to New Orleans I’ve had a feeling this was once home Sometime not long ago In a past life for this west coast boy Orleans is falling To the sea from which it came Lost souls are wandering Mixed in the masquerade Oh hear the sounds A young brass band’s made its own Catfish are jumping By the shores of Ponchartrain Oh take me back to New Orleans I’ve had a feeling this was once home Sometime not long ago In a past life for this west coast boy I still see myself out there Out on the porch in the rain With a beer and a pile of shrimp And with my guitar in hand I’d sing my heart out to the night Yeah I still see myself out there in that warm pouring rain Sitting out with smile and I knew right then where I was I thought I was home, yeah I felt I was home, oh I knew I was home Oh take me back to New Orleans I’ve had a feeling this was once home Sometime not long ago In a past life for this west coast boy

Been burning candles At both ends these days And I guess I’m lost when I wake I’m just a copy of a copy of a copy And these dreams turn to nightmares in the day Please send me off til the light As for the owls move along Out there coyotes and the cows make their music But it’s far from a lullabye song So send me off til the light What you can’t leave for the morning? I’m just a copy of a copy of a copy And these dreams turn to nightmares in the day

Stand By Me 03:28

about

"Bonfire" was written and recorded at Curcio's yurt in the throwback beach town of Cayucos, CA. The 12 song album is the Still Time frontman's debut solo record and includes a variety of different styles and sounds. For this record, Curcio plays guitar, piano, banjo, and, harmonica and, for the first time, experiments with loops, synth instruments, and samples to create a diverse collection of soulful songs.
